Rose Catherine (Katherine?)

We have a new baby girl! Rose came a month early, but Mom and baby are doing well. We're pretty sure she'll be named Rose Catherine, but we're also considering the Katherine (with a "K") spelling. It's my grandmother's name, and apparently she did spell it with a K. Still, the C is nice too. We're going to have to sleep on it. Feel free to chime in with your vote.

Here are a few initial pictures from Rose's first day:

Ellen's c-section was scheduled for March 12th (two weeks before her due date). But because she started getting sick (high blood pressure, etc.), the doctors decided not to risk it and took her out today (4 weeks early).

Hey Pammy,

The c-section was (if I have this right, John) scheduled for 38 weeks anyway, so two weeks before that puts us at 36. On the nose?

By the way...I voted/waffled for Katherine in my e-mail, and I still hold that if that's how your grandmother spelled it, that's a pretty compelling pull in that direction.

But as I look the whole "Rose Catherine" on your blog here...it looks so PRETTY with the C. I think it's the roundness of the letters in "Rose" that go well with the nice round "C." Visually, it fits really well.

The "K" gets my vote familially.

The "C" gets my vote visually.

Argh. I suppose it could be worse. You could be trying to pick between Ludmilla and Mehitabel. There's just no winning on that one.

Overthinkingly,
Krizzzz

The other kids met Rose last night, and loved her. Anna is going to be a challenge, for sure. She was very disappointed that we didn't let her hold Rose, and kept touching her. We know from experience with Bridget that Anna can be a little on the rough side, unintentionally, so we'll have to keep a close eye. :)

Wow, she is just beautiful (and very much a Salah/Maher, from the looks of it!) What a blessing for her to arrive all safe and sound and healthy, with a loving family there to greet her. CONGRATULATIONS!!

P.S. My verification "word" to post this was "asess" - which I naturally misread the first time I looked at it. (I thought this was a family show!) :)

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful... baby, mother and family.

Re: name- I agree with your instinct to spell her middle name with a "C." It still honors the matriarchs and allows Rose an identity all her own. Seeing her picture, "Rose Catherine" suits her.

This opinion from one who could be prejudiced toward the other option...

Best wishes,
