Bio
Ian
Patrick Maher was born in the spring of 2003. He was nine
weeks premature, due to Ellen developing pre-ecclampsia, and
was 2 pounds, 15 1/4 ounces at birth. After spending almost seven weeks in the hospital (Beth Israel in Boston, followed
by Winchester Hospital), he was about 6 pounds when he finally
came home, and now you wouldn't know that he had ever been
so small. He loves his stuffed monkey, trains (especially
Thomas The Tank Engine), cars, and his "mommy" and
"daddy".
Ian
has a very active imagination. One day, I asked him if he
had seen Mommy's phone, and he walked down the hallway, found
the cat, and announced that he had "found a kitty phone".
Another night, he found a squash in the kitchen, brought it
into the living room, and started narrating a story with it
- "Hello Daddy, said the squash", he said. We must
be reading too many books to him. I'm just kidding of course,
but I'm sure that's why his mind thinks like that. I love
hearing him talk - it's like a window into his mind.
